She has the least outfits, and no one seems to care that much about her. I hope she doesnt get retired, she is my favorite

I think she is hard for people to relate to. All the other dolls were chose for their time period and then their character/culture was worked into the story. So with an AA character like Addy, she is still from the Civil War which is a HUGE part of American history. So even if some people read her books and have a hard time with the slavery issue or the dialect, there is always her era to fall back on. Although personally I LOVE everything about Addy. I have to throw that in there every chance I get

Josefina doesnt really have that. She was a character chosen more for her culture than her era. And although thats fine, unless you are from the southwest region, I think it is hard for many young girls to relate to her. Hence, slow sales equal a lack of new products. The 1820s are also a sort of blah decade in American history. There was no major wars going on or big political movements. Its not a definitive era. Some of Josie's outfits are defined as Regency era, but thats sort of off as it technically ended once the 1820s began. Not to mention, it was more of just a fashion over here, the term was started over in England in regards to their king.

So thats why imo Josie lacks the popularity of the other girls. I agree with you though, she is very neglected and I wish they would make something new for her already.

I think that Josefina is the prettiest, neatest historical! I think that she has the nicest set, her stuff is always my favorite....I just love everything about her! I doubt that she'll be retired...I mean she is the only hispanic doll and there is a growing number of hispanic people in this country. So, don't worry!

Don't worry, she'll be a HUGE seller when AGPLA opens up, and they'll add tons of new stuff to her collection.

I really think that's part of why she's not the best seller. I haven't known too many kids with AGs here, but after Samantha, she is was the most common of everyone I've met with an AG. I have her, and I really think the Southwest will play a huge part of her sales when there's a store here.

That's not to say there aren't people who want an Hispanic doll in NY or Chicago, or anywhere other than the Southwest, but we do know that a lot of little girls like dolls that look like them, or that they can relate to.

Where she lives is really important to her stories, more so than most of the girls'. So, I can see why some people might not be able to relate to her as well as Addy or Kit.

In any event, I think Josefina is the prettiest AG doll. I love her face mold to pieces, and any doll that has it is just gorgeous. She will sell really well in AGPLA, no doubt.

I agree with Rach- slow sales mean little incentive for the company to expand her line.

Of course, I adore Josefina. She's one of my favorites. We share our last name and our homeland. I really think that with strong marketing, she can sell- even if girls find it harder to relate to her.

I myself have only recently read a Josefina book (Josefina Learns A Lesson), and I liked it- she's a beautiful doll with beautiful clothes. I agree that her time period is less interesting, therefore it might get ignored, but the story was one of the better AG books.

It's so funny, the 1820s are a period I'm really interested in (though I admit, I know far more about 1790-1810). I'm largely interested in them because there was no major war, and because it was the end of one era and the foundation of another. I think, however, that the reason Josie doesn't sell as well is because her outfits don't have quite as much variety as some of the other girls, and her accessories, I think, appeal more to adults than little girls. I think that Josefina just needs a little kick start. I'd love to see something maybe super fancy for her (as impractical as that would be) or a new character in her books.
